The 8th Cinemanila International Film Festival is now accepting
entries for the festival's second local digital film competition.
Cinemanila runs from November 3 to 15 this year.

According to festival director Tikoy Aguiluz, Cinemanila 2006 will
continue to have a strong local counterpart. The festival still
follows its objectives of promoting Filipino films to world cinema
audiences and world cinema to Filipino audiences and of developing
new and independent filmmakers.

Cinemanila will carry on its tradition of screening both Filipino
and foreign films that can eventually make significant impact
abroad. Once again, local productions would be given more
encouragement and focus thus continuing the local digital film
competition.

To participate, the film must be produced after January 2006 and
must fulfill the following conditions: it must be in digital format
either DV, HD, 24P or HDV; the film must be directed by a Filipino
citizen; it must not have been exhibited commercially, locally or
internationally and any screening that involves ticket selling; it
must not have been exhibited as an entry in prior local festivals;
the film should at least be 80 minutes or up to a maximum of 130
minutes in length including credits; the film may be in Filipino or
any regional dialects with English subtitles.

The Entry Selection Committee will choose ten (10) local digital
full-length features from among the qualified entries to participate
in the Digital Festival Competition. The selected films will be
screened in Metro Manila during the festival.

Deadline of entry forms (with the entry form filled and signed) with
a documentation, short synopsis, biography and filmography of the
director, cast and crew list, director's statement, and producer's
intent is set on September 21 while the preview tapes (VHS NTSC
format, VCD, or DVD) of films with English subtitles must be
submitted before October 1.

All entries must use the official standard entry forms provided by
the Cinemanila secretariat or can be downloaded from the official
website www.cinemanila.com.ph.

A maximum of two entries per producer will be allowed to compete.
Only one film per director will be allowed to compete. Only one
film per lead actor/actress will be allowed to compete.

In the event that one of the ten (10) official entries chosen by the
Entry Selection Committee backs out or is disqualified for failure
to comply with the guidelines set by the Executive Committee, such
entry shall be replaced by the next highest ranking film.

The ten (10) official entries to the filmfest competition will be
announced on October 4.
