Kidlat De Guia's "Sleeping White Elephants"

You are invited to Kidlat De Guia's solo photography exhibit at galleria duemila (tel. 8339815), saturday june 7 at 3 pm. 210 Loring st. Pasay city. www.galleriaduemila.com.
"Sleeping White Elephants" shows images of manila's unfinished high rise buildings. The images are printed on duratrans and transformed into lightboxes with cement frames. video projections on the walls in between the images create an ongoing conversation between the "sleeping" cement monoliths and the environment they inhabit. The exhibit combines the artist's two passions, film and photography.
Kidlat De Guia is a filmmaker who specializes in developmental documentaries for international aid groups. His training began at an early age when his father independent filmmaker Kidlat Tahimik let him play with his film and video equipment. He has worked in various capacities with respected and multi-awarded shows such as The Probe Team and I-Witness Documentaries. In 2001 his unique talent as a filmmaker/director was first acknowledged when he won as the Philippine representative in the First Time Filmmaker Initiative of Discovery Channel. This was followed by an award of excellence at the Aqua Planet Video Festival at Seian, Japan. His group shows include "KKK" with brothers Kawayan and Kabunyan, "Jumpcut," "Celebration of Collage," and solo exhibit "Ah-leh, Life Goes On." "Sleeping White Elephants" is his first solo exhibit with Galleria Duemila.
