The 2nd International Silent Film Festival

It's back, and with a bigger and better lineup! The 2nd International Silent
Film Festival opens in three weeks at the Shangri-la Plaza.

Cineastes can look forward to seeing classic silent films from 6 different
countries. In five special screenings at Shang Cineplex Cinema 1, the films
will be accompanied by a live music score. "The Black Man with a White
Soul" (Spain) opens the festival on August 26 with music by Novo Concertante
Manila, conducted by Arwin Tan. "Cascading White Threads" (Japan) will be
scored live by Bob Aves on August 27. "Faces of Children" (France) will be
accompanied by the music of Jack Rufo and Yosha on September 2. Noli
Aurillo, together with Louie Talan, Wendel Garcia and Kakoy Legazpi, will be
providing the music for "The Oyster Princess" (Germany) on September 3.
"Cabiria" (Italy) will be scored live by Caliph8, together with Matt Deegan
and Malek Lopez on September 4.

The Czech film "Erotikon" will also be shown in Cinema 1 on August 28.
Additional screenings of the other five films (with original score) will be
held at Listening In Style on August 29 and September 5-8.

Cinema 1 screenings are at 7pm. Tickets are P75. All Listening In Style
screenings are at 5pm and admission is free.

The 2nd International Silent Film Festival is co-organized by the
Goethe-Institut, Instituto Cervantes, Japan Foundation and the embassies of
the Czech Republic, France and Italy in partnership with Shangri-la Plaza,
Listening In Style, Cibo, Cibo di M, YoCard, the Embassy of Spain, Institut
Valencià de Cinematografía Ricardo Muñoz Suay (I.V.A.C.) Filmoteca and
