Joey Gosengfiao Becomes a Kool and Klassik Pinoy Director
in Cinema One's Celebration of Classic Films

On August 1 to 5, Cinema One's 2nd Annual Kool Pinoy Klassiks Movie
Feature Festival at the SM Megamall Cinema 1 pays tribute to the late
director Joey Gosiengfiao!

This tribute from Cinema One's Kool Pinoy Klassiks will include the
funniest and campiest from the director's select movies. There will
also be a short tribute feature about the man and his persona as
reflected through his movies, others' description of him and the last
on-cam interview with him will also be featured.

One of the most popular movie directors during the 80's, Gosiengfiao
is a filmmaker who has created a new genre with the movies he has
directed. Regal Films producer and dowager Lily Monteverde loves his
artistry , colleagues enjoyed working with him and his cast who are
endeared to him. Above all, his works usher any movie buff to
respect him as a progenitor of movies that have their mainstream
appeal and look but with unique appeal. All these allude to
Gosengfiao's mark of being a "King of Camp" and "Lover of Kitsch".
But while his films can be deemed as a producer's nightmares or
distinctly and hilariously ridiculous, what they left behind were
their distinctiveness and instantaneous quirkiness that reflect their
director.

August 1 at 9:30 pm will feature LA PALOMA. This Celia Rodriguez,
Mona Lisa and Orestes Ojeda starrer brings the grand dame of
villains' vampy-campy mixes dominating the movie. On August 2 at
9:30 pm will be BEDSPACERS, Gosiengfiao's favorite because the story
displays himself and the nostalgia of his college life, stars Alma
Moreno, Rio Locsin and Al Tantay in a love triangle filled mainly
with exhibitionism. NIGHTS OF SERAFINA on August 3 at 9:30 pm
introduces fledgling starlet Georgia Ortega who becomes many men's
object of desire and the envy of rich women. KATORSE, featuring the
young Dina Bonnevie, Gabby Concepcion and Alfie Anido, is an over the
top melodramatic drama on social classes and ambition that will be
shown on August 4 Saturday at 11:30 am. It was his quintessential
template of campy-fun TEMPTATION ISLAND to be shown on August 4 at
9:30 pm that set the director to be his own misnomer. A group of
beauty contest finalists and young hot men, plus a pseudo-aristo gay
man get shipwrecked and stuck in an island. Expect nothing but loads
of laughter from these characters. Finally on August 5 at 7:30 pm
will be NYMPHA. Starring Alma Moreno and Ricky Belmonte, this tale of
a sex-crazed young woman sets how an individual, yes this time a
woman, rakes her own energy. Through sex.

When a movie carries a dialogue that is hilarious coupled with askew
gestures and expressions, anyone can exclaim that is so Joey
Gosiengfiao". True enough, in the May 2007 issue of StarStudio
magazine, he was posthumously featured for his remarkable
contribution to local cinema. It's through his movies come August 01
to 05 that any movie enthusiast will discover the man and his own
brand of artistry.

The 2nd Annual Kool Pinoy Klassiks is produced by Cinema One in its
passionate support for the local entertainment arena. It is one of
the channels of Creative Programs, Incorporated (CPI), a wholly-
owned subsidiary of ABS-CBN.
