Gutierrez "Teng" Mangansakan II: ARROWS IN THE WIND
Just when everybody was assuming that the situation in Mindanao was starting to normalize after an 'all-out war' between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front three years earlier, a war erupted, again, on February 2003. It was in Barangay Buliok, the MILF's main camp in Pagalungan, Maguindanao. Among those greatly affected by this war were the children of the neighboring village of Inug-ug who were attending school. As a result of the war, the school was burned down. Classes were disrupted. Graduation that year had to be postponed until it was safe for the children to return to school. Arrows in the Wind recounts the bravery of the children of Inug-ug and their determination to rebuild their dreams. (Director, Writer, Producer: Gutierrez Mangansakan II; Editor: Kitty Bermudez; Music: Geejay Arriola; Additional Sound: Santiago Mangada Puno; Production Assistant: Moises Charles Hollite)
About the Director
Gutierrez Mangansakan II is an essayist, cultural activist and documentary filmmaker from Pagalungan, Maguindanao. He majored in Communication Arts at the Ateneo de Davao University and Art Direction at the Mowelfund Film Institute in Manila. Starting with his first film House under the Crescent Moon, which won Grand Prize at the Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video in 2001 (and was screened at the 2002 Cinemanila International Film Festival), his documentary films delve exclusively on the various facets of the Bangsamoro struggle in Mindanao. He made his second documentary A Boat in Deep Waters in 2003. Arrows in the Wind is his third documentary. He is currently working on Amir, a full-length documentary on MILF founding chair Salamat Hashim. In 2005, he was named Defender of Cultural Heritage by the Fookien Times Philippines Yearbook for his work in nurturing the rich tradition of his Maguindanaon ancestry.

KWERDAS (String)
It is music that both binds and detaches Angel to two of the most important persons in her life:
her mentor who painstakingly teaches her to play the violin despite her disability; and her lover who's been accompanying her in the darkest hours. While we traverse the paths Angel takes, we question ourselves the impact of music that can't be heard.
Written/Directed/Produced by: David Redulfin Corpuz. Cast: Angelica Tolentino, Ann Margaret Bunyi, Bryan Jhonson Lim | Original Music: Achilles Gonzales and Maricor Reyes | Cinematography: Rosendo Concepcion | Editing: David Redulfin Corpuz and Rosendo Concepcion | Casting: David Redulfin Corpuz | Production Design: David Redulfin Corpuz | Art Direction: Stephen Valena and Jomar Mislang | Set Decoration: Jesse Baban | Make-Up: Angelica Tolentino | Poster Design: Michele Lao Baun
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
David Redulfin Corpuz, 21, was a junior taking up Information Technology at an all-boys school, Don Bosco Technical College, when he became interested with filmmaking. He intends to shift course but realized that it might be too late so he decided to stick with BSIT. After earning his degree with honors in 2006, he joined a company to become a programmer, but quit only after a month. He eventually applied to UP Diliman's Master of Arts in Film program and was accepted despite having no background in film production prior to his application. Now an incoming sophomore MA student, he has directed and produced three short films and a music video for the band, Color It Red.
Jernil Bautista: GRAVEYARD SHIFT

Asteeg!
